Why is EN1176 certification important?

European Standard EN1176 is the most up-to-date combined European Standard for Playground Equipment. Use of the this certification mark is evidence to the customer of product quality and compliance to stringent safety standards. Nothing is more important than a safe playing environment for children; adherence to European Standard EN1176 ensures that standards are kept high. All Freenotes instruments have been inspected by The Play Inspection Company (www.playinspections.co.uk) who have confirmed their compliance with EN1176.

Introduced in 1998 the European Safety Standards for children’s play areas, EN1176 & 1177 provide clear guidelines for manufacturers and installers of playground equipment.  However these are guidelines which are not enforceable by law, and as such the onus to comply lies with responsible manufacturers and forward thinking councils or those responsible for the installation of playgrounds.
